Step 9: Backup
The box makes no backup until a recovery key exists. Do this step now.
Who can do this
Section titled “Who can do this”The administrator, in the office on https://myai.local/.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A safe place for the recovery key that is not the box: a password manager, or a printout in a locked place.
- Open Administration, sub-tab General, panel Backups.
- Under Recovery key, press Create the recovery key.
- The key appears with the warning “This is the only time the box shows this key.”
- Press Download as a file, or Copy and paste it into your password manager.
- Press I have saved it.
- Press Back up now to make the first backup.
- When it is done, press Download next to the backup in Backups on this box and keep the file somewhere other than the box.
What you see afterwards
Section titled “What you see afterwards”- The panel says “Recovery key …” with its fingerprint and when it was created.
- Every night at 03:30 (box time) the box makes a backup and keeps the newest 7.
- “Backups on this box” lists each backup with Made, Size, How and Recovery key.

What is not in a backup: secrets. These are the AI provider key, connection keys, the store enrolment and the remote access code. After a restore, the box lists what to enter again.
