Step 8: First worker

The administrator.

  • The box is enrolled with the store. See Store enrolment.
  • The worker’s publisher is registered under Trusted publishers.
  • The connections the worker needs, if you know them. You can add them afterwards too. See Connections.
  • Read the worker’s page under Workers to know what it needs.

A new box allows nothing. A worker receives only what it asks for and what you allow here.

  1. Open Administration, sub-tab Packages, panel Owner policy.
  2. Open the store catalog first (panel Store, Refresh catalog) and open Permissions under the worker. The list Requires shows what the worker asks for.
  3. In Owner policy, tick each permission you agree with. For a permission with a value (for example “Reach one named host”), type the value and press Allow.
  4. Press Save policy. The button area shows “Saved” and the time.
  1. In the panel Store, find the function and press Subscribe.
  2. Press Open the payment page. The store’s payment page opens in a new tab. Pay there.
  3. Come back to the box. The page checks every few seconds. The badge changes to “active”.
  1. Under the function, find the worker and open Permissions. Check Will be granted and Declined.
  2. Answer the install questions under “This package asks you to choose:”, for example the repository or the website.
  3. Press Install.
  4. Wait until every step shows a tick: “Reserve the installation at the store”, “Download the signed package”, “Verify, unpack and bind the package”, “Acknowledge the activation to the store”.
  5. If the box asks for a product mapping, choose a product for each name and press Resume the install.
  1. Open the tab Chat.
  2. Choose the worker under Package.
  3. Write a short task, for example one of the example tasks on the worker’s page.
  4. Press Send.
  • The worker is listed under Installed packages with the state “active” and “from the store”.
  • The column Ready says “Ready”, or “Needs … from the admin”. Then press Open Connections and add what is missing.
  • In Chat your task appears as a card. See Follow a run.
Choice What it does When to pick it Can you undo it?
A permission in Owner policy Allows that permission for every worker that asks for it. Only what your workers need. Yes, but a change does not reach workers already installed.
Skip (the permission is declined) on an optional install question The worker does not get that permission. When you do not want that part. Yes: Change on the installed worker.
Install Installs the worker. Yes: Uninstall. Its workspace is then deleted.
